Physical Therapy
Physical Therapy
Physical Therapy is an allied health profession which utilizes a comprehensive evaluation of the patient’s movement system, which may include assessment of the neurological, musculoskeletal and cardiovascular systems. The main goals of treatment are to relieve and or control pain, restore and/ or improve mobility and strength and optimize function.
Therapists may use one or a combination of the following interventions to achieve treatment goals:
- Functionally based therapeutic exercises (including aerobic conditioning)
- Functional training in self care and home management, including training of care givers as needed.
- Manual therapy techniques (soft tissue and joint mobilization)
- Physical agents, mechanical and/or thermal modalities
- Electrotherapeutic modalities
- Education and/or application of assistive, adaptive and protective devices and equipment
Physical Therapists are uniquely qualified to evaluate and treat movement system dysfunction. We take a total body assessment and treatment approach to maximize return to functional activity including all forms of work and play.
